2020 has been a year of the unexpected and music artist Denel says that ‘most of us can definitely relate to that.’ Gearing up for his latest release ‘Come Home’, the songwriter/producer talks about how the inspiration for the track came about in the first New Zealand lockdown. “I just remember feeling isolated but at the same time on a huge creative buzz. Personally it was a great time for making music.”
The song infuses a mix of ballad style pop while remaining true to the urban R&B genre, with an emphasis on a message of unity, love and positivity. A lyric video is set to release alongside the single, a very deliberate decision to do so. “We live in such a polarized world now and I think 2020 has really showed us who we are. It’s so important to unite and love each other because tomorrow isn’t promised. Thats what I want the underlying message of the song to be and I really want to keep that at the forefront” says the artist. The track was solely written and produced by Denel, something he wants to showcase a lot more in the new music to come.
Denel’s last release ‘Kick It’ featuring Tāne and Waazzoo and the Vibes was released in July debuting at number 10 on the Hot 20 NZ singles chart and now racking up over 130k streams on Spotify alone. Stay tuned for more new music coming early in 2021.
