Harry Styles Waltzes Through Love and Loneliness in ‘Coming Up Roses’ Official Music Video

Harry Styles is embracing the awkward, unpredictable side of romance in the official music video for “Coming Up Roses,” a piano driven ballad that explores the uncertainty of relationships and the lessons people discover about themselves along the way. Released Oct. 26, the visual gives one of the standout tracks from his fourth solo album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally., a quirky and unexpectedly emotional story.

Directed by Bradley & Pablo, the filmmaking duo previously behind Styles’ videos for “Watermelon Sugar” and “Late Night Talking,” the clip unfolds inside an old fashioned community dance hall. Wearing a gray pinstripe suit, Styles steps onto the dance floor and begins waltzing with a series of different partners, each bringing a distinct personality and emotional energy to the gathering.

The encounters range from sweet to downright unusual. Styles dances with a bride, an older woman, a pregnant woman who appears visibly troubled, and a man wearing a neck brace. As he moves from one partner to the next, his expression shifts between uncertainty, concern and quiet amusement. What initially resembles a traditional dance class gradually becomes a collection of awkward, intimate interactions that feel almost like snapshots of different lives intersecting in one room.

One particularly striking moment arrives when the group watches a woman dressed in black perform a solo dance filled with exaggerated, unconventional movements. The scene breaks away from the elegance of the ballroom setting, reinforcing the video’s willingness to embrace imperfection rather than chase a polished romantic fantasy.

Eventually, the gathering begins to empty out, leaving Styles alone in the hall. In the final moments, he sits down and eats a cookie, an understated ending that adds a touch of humor to the video’s otherwise reflective atmosphere. The visual also features the couple who became engaged during one of Styles’ Madison Square Garden residency performances while he performed “Coming Up Roses,” tying the story back to a real life moment from the song’s journey.

Musically, “Coming Up Roses” stands apart from the more dance oriented material on Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. Its piano and orchestral strings provide a softer backdrop for Styles’ intimate vocal delivery, allowing the song’s emotional tension to take center stage. The lyrics describe a relationship that appears to be going well, even as doubts begin to emerge about whether two people are truly right for each other.

Despite its romantic surface, the song is not necessarily about achieving a perfect ending. In an interview with Zane Lowe, Styles described it as a love song about how meaningful a relationship can be even when it does not last forever. He also explained that writing the track helped him discover things about himself, making the song feel personal without reducing its message to a single experience.

Interestingly, “Coming Up Roses” began as an attempt to write a Christmas song. Styles said the idea lasted only a couple of lines before evolving into something entirely different. That initial seasonal inspiration remains in the opening lyrics, but the finished track moves well beyond the holidays, exploring the complicated feelings that can accompany love, uncertainty and personal growth.

The song is the only track on Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. for which Styles is credited as the sole writer. Released in March 2026, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and also produced the singles “Aperture,” “American Girls” and “Dance No More.” “Coming Up Roses” now receives its own visual treatment as the fourth music video from the project.

With “Coming Up Roses,” Harry Styles trades grand romantic gestures for a more human portrait of connection. The dance hall becomes a place where people stumble, comfort one another and occasionally get things wrong, while the closing scene reminds viewers that life continues even when a moment does not unfold as expected. It is a charming and unconventional visual for a song that finds beauty in relationships, even when they do not turn out the way we imagined.
